ARDREY KELL HS WINS CAROLINAS GIRLS CHALLENGE

Ardrey Kell High School of Charlotte and score of 249 to win the Carolinas Girls’ High School Challenge at Keith Hills CC in Buies Creek, NC.  Ardrey Kell was led by Moon Cheong of Charlotte who shot a round of five over par 77.  Holly Spring High School of Holly Springs finished in second place one shot back at 250.  Finishing in third place was Pinecrest High School of Pinehurst finished two shots back with a 250.

In the individual competition, Savannah Gowarty of Raleigh, NC won the medalist award on the second playoff hole over Leigha Holt of Hollys Springs.  Gowarty and Holt each finished the round with a two over par 74.  Gowarty, Holt and Cheong along with Amanda Yannoni (Green Hope HS) of Cary, NC and Kendra Dalton (Heritage HS) of Wake Forest, NC each made the first all-tournament team.  On the second team all-tournament team were Gabrielle Weiss (Pinecrest HS) of Pinehurst, NC, Mary-Frances Hall (Elkin HS) of Elkin, NC, Meghan Hollbrooks (Ledford HS) of Winston-Salem, NC, Annika Winebarger (Ekin HS) of State Road, NC and Victoria Allred (Reagan HS) of Pfafftown, NC.

This junior girls’ tournament was conducted jointly by the Carolinas Golf Association and the Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour.  Each school team was represented by four players with the top three scores determining the team score.
