Brown & Osiecki Take the Lead at 32^nd Roy Jones Junior

Kinston, N.C. (JULY 18, 2017) – First round results from the Tarheel Youth Golf Association’s 32^nd Roy Jones Junior Classic at Kinston Country Club located in Kinston, N.C. on July 18, 2017.

Nicolas Brown of Wendell, N.C. finished his round at two-under-par 69 and is tied for the lead at the 32^nd Roy Jones Junior. Brown, who was in the first group of the day, played the majority of his round in rainy conditions. Brown began his day on the tenth tee and pared his first seven holes. A birdie on the par-4 17th, was his only non-par of his first nine holes and he finished the side at one-under-par (34.) Brown made one birdie on both sides and added an eagle on the par-5 third hole. After going bogey-free through his first 14 holes, Brown bogeyed the par-4 sixth hole. Brown finished both sides at one-under-par and holds a tie for the lead going into the final round.

Casey Osiecki of New Bern, N.C. got off to a hot start and birdied his first hole. Osiecki went on to par the second hole and went to two-under-par when he birdied the third hole. After bogeying the fourth hole, Osiecki went on to par his next eight holes. Osiecki finished his round strong and birdied his last two holes. Osiecki finished both sides at one-under-par and is deadlocked in a tie for first place with Nicolas Brown going into the final round of the 32^nd Roy Jones Junior Classic.

Boy’s 16-18 Age Division

Nicolas Brown of Wendell, N.C. holds a tie for the overall lead and first place in his division with a score of 69, two-under-par. 

Boy’s 14-15 Age Division

Casey Osiecki of New Bern, N.C. holds a tie for the overall lead and first place in his division with a score of 69, two-under-par. 

Boy’s 12-13 Age Division

Matthew Richardson of Ayden, N.C. holds an eight-shot lead in his division with a first round score of 71, even-par.

11 & Under

Jack Wiley of Wake Forest, N.C. holds the lead in the 11 & under division with a modified stableford score of 31.

Girl’s 14-18 Age Division

Trinity Ahing of New Bern, N.C. goes into the final round with the lead by shooting 78, seven-over-par.
