Pinecrest wins North State High School Challenge
Final results from the 6th North State High School Challenge at The Club at Irish Creek (6,599 yards, par 72, 71.8/131) in Kannapolis, NC on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
Reigning 4A state champion Pinecrest High School of Pinehurst, NC established themselves as the top team in North Carolina high school golf winning the 6th North State High School Challenge at The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, NC. Pinecrest shot a second round of three over par 291 to finish with a two day total of 585 and a five shot victory. Charlotte Catholic High School of Charlotte, NC finished second at 590. Myers Park High School of Charlotte, NC and Broughton High School of Raleigh, NC tied for third place with a 36-hole total of 599.
Attie Giles of Pinecrest and Clay Nelson of Ardrey Kell shared the medalist award with two day total of even pr 142. Thomas Eubanks of Myers Park finished one shot back in third place with a 143. Grant Smith of Myers Park and Jack Heath of Charlotte Catholic finished tied for fourth place with a total of two over par 144.
This annual high school tournament is conducted by the North Carolina Junior Golf Foundation and the Tarheel Youth Golf Association and is open to any high school (public or private) team from North Carolina.
