CARY, N.C. (July 28, 2025) – On a sunny summer day at Prestonwood Country Club, junior golfers ages 12–18 teed it up with hopes of taking home a title at the 2025 TYGA SAS Junior Championship.
Jack Adkins of Cary, N.C. (2027), carded a 1-under-par 71 to win the Boys’ 16–18 Division. In the Boys’ 14–15 Division, Chase Mazzola of Naples, Fla. (2028), posted an even-par 70 and secured the title in a scorecard playoff. Jesper Andrews of Cary, N.C. (2030), captured the Boys’ 12–13 Division with an even-par 72.
On the girls’ side, Hollie Lewis of Cary, N.C. (2028), dominated the Girls’ 14–15 Division with a 3-over 73, winning by nine strokes. Payton Durham of Wilson, N.C. (2027), claimed the Girls’ 16–18 Division with a 7-over 77.
Boys’ 12–13 Division
Andrews took the title by a single stroke over runner-up Ben Thompson of Lillington, N.C. (2030), who shot 73. Third place was decided in a scorecard playoff, with Charlie Spiron of Pikeville, N.C. (2031), earning the spot with a 6-over 78, edging out Benjamin Ackley of Apex, N.C. (2023).
Boys’ 14–15 Division
Mazzola and Gavin Hazen of Wake Forest, N.C. (2029), both finished at even-par 70, sending the division to a scorecard playoff. Mazzola prevailed to take the win. Third place also required a playoff, with Owen Whitley of Holly Springs, N.C. (2028), taking the spot with a 1-over 71 over Davis Leasure (Fuquay-Varina, N.C., 2029) and Lucas Wahlstrom (Raleigh, N.C., 2029).
Boys’ 16–18 Division
Adkins stayed ahead of the field all day, thanks in part to a birdie and an eagle on the back nine. Ignacio Perea of Cary, N.C. (2027), posted a 1-over 73 to finish runner-up. Three players tied for third at 2-over 74 total including Mark DeVault (Cary, N.C., 2028), Cole McLeod (Lillington, N.C., 2026), and Kalan Strable (Cary, N.C., 2027).
Girls’ 16–18 Division
Durham carded a 77 (+7) to win her division by four shots. Olivia Heggie of Raleigh, N.C. (2027), placed second with an 81, and Lauren Oh of Cary, N.C. (2026), was third at 83.
Girls’ 14–15 Division
Lewis earned her division title with a commanding nine-shot win. She also took home the title in the Long Drive Competition. Gloria Lee of Apex, N.C. (2029), finished second with an 82 (+12), and Mia DuBois of Wake Forest, N.C. (2028), was third with an 85 (+15).
Team Division
In the team competition, Prestonwood A—comprised of Jesper Andrews, Zach Barnette, Brennan Slotta (Cary, N.C., 2025), and Mason Magrini (Morrisville, N.C., 2026) took home the trophy with a combined score of 7-over. The winning team was determined by the lowest individual score after all teams tied on the fourth player’s score.
